My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me.

So begins a tale told from his own point of view—a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

The Wise Man's Fear Review

  • Great book but don’t invest

I truly enjoyed reading this book and the first. I got quite caught up in the subtle developments of the characters . I have, however, given up on the final book being published. I came across this in the epic fantasy list and thought, they are looking for rubes. I believe that ,like Martin, this will never be finished. He is a better writer than Martin whose claim to fame seems to be in the shock value of the outcome, but seems to be following in his incomplete epic footsteps.

Moves too slow. I got tired of his preoccupation with Denna!

This book was absolutely amazing. I loved every chapter of it. It was poetic in its prose and kept my attention throughout all the legends of Kvothe. His romance for Denna might be my favorite to read but it is all very enjoyable. I cannot wait to read more about his loves and adventures.
  • Wow I got bored

Half way through, the story went weird in book two and I got really bored. I loved the first book but Wise Mans Fear took some strange turns, I personally didn’t get it.

After 8 years you would think he could finish the story but no nothing of the sort happens. The author just uses social media as a money laundering front for charities. Dot. But don’t read don’t support.
  • Not worth reading

Waited the whole book for the payoff of grinding through long winded scenes that really went nowhere.

After reading Name of The Wind, I purchased this book to continue the series. I enjoyed this book nearly as much as the first. There is a different, interesting system of magic outlined in the series which was fun to read. This is one of the few books where I’ve taken the time to actually highlight select phrases in the text because the writing was so powerful! The books are well worth the cost I’d say, lots of entertainment (3000+ pages on my phone) for 9$
